or you may have received an link on your mobile phone via sms which tempt you to login using your gmail username and password to watch free videos , images etc.

If either of this has happened with you then there were great chances of you been becoming a victim of this cyber attack called Phishing Attack .

Let me tell you some thing about Phishing attack what exactly it means .

Guys ! Phishing is a type of attack in which a cyber attacker / hacker  pretends to be trustworthy source and then tries to steal your confidential & sensitive information which may include your personal data , e-mail credentials , bank account credentials etc .by which the cyber attacker / hacker can illegally access to your accounts and misuse those .

Now the page below is a fake facebook login page .

The cyber attacker might send you the URL of such fake facebook login page via email and once you enter username password ,the attacker will get the information since the fake URL is hosted on his server .

Imagine your Facebook account is hacked !!!!

The feeling is not good for sure.

But the good thing about the attack is that we can easily save yourself by just taking few precautions :-

1) Use your Common Sense and always be attentive while you are browsing online because most of the phishing attack happens via email or social networking sites .

Never enter your username / password of any account if you think the URL is doubtful which would be tempting and offering you free gifts !

2) Use of Antivirus is one the  best way to keep yourself  away from such attacks .

But most of the users forget to install  the antivirus updates.

These updates are very important since they have methods to mitigate new attacks .

3) Always use known browsers like Mozilla firefox or Google chrome since they have inbuilt active protection against malware attacks and which warns the users whiling visiting an malicious URL.

4) Use of the website - http://www.phishtank.com

This is free website that has a huge database of known Phishing websites and it allows you to check whether the URL is safe or not !

www.phishtank.com

You can submit and check the URL !!!
