Routed Vs Routing Protocols

Both exist at the network layer.
Routed Protocols are used to carry user data across network.
Example- IP , IPX ,Apple Talk.
Routing Protocols tells the routers which path to be selected .
Example – EIGRP , OSPF , RIP ,BGP .

ROUTED VS ROUTING PROTOCOL

Let consider an example -

A group  of people need to travel from Pune to Bangalore in a BUS & there are multiple roads from Pune to Banaglore say Road1 , Road 2 and Road 3.

Imagine this group of people as data (payload) , Bus as Routed Protocol and the someone who will decide which road to select as Routing Protocol .

Here PC1 need to communicate with Server .

Routed Protocol will act as bus which is suppose to carry the people from Pune to Bangalore i.e Routed Protocol will carry the data from PC1 to Server.

Where as Routing Protocol will tell the router R1 which path to select Path1 or Path2 or Path3 to reach server .

Thanks For Reading !!!!
